Songsters

The membership of Staple Hill Songster brigade (senior choir) fluctuates between 26 – 30 members, ages range from 20s to 70s all of whom are committed Christians.  We encompass a wide variety of vocations and professional careers and our mission is to proclaim the gospel message through music and song, to bring people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and to encourage spiritual growth throughout the brigade.  We believe our music will reinforce the message and enhance worship.

Songsters at reading

Phil James was appointed Songster Leader in September 2017 having previously served as Deputy Leader.

We have made a commitment to serve the local community of Staple Hill.  We dedicate our time to support regular worship at the Salvation Army and this year we have taken part in Praise in the Park over the summer months. We have sung at special events and fundraising concerts and have also visited Residential Homes over the Christmas period to take the message to folk who would not be able to attend a church.   It has also been a privilege in recent years to visit Salvation Army centres in Worcester and Reading as well as smaller centres in our area.

We welcome anyone to our rehearsals on Thursdays at 8.00 pm to listen or to sing.  We enjoy fellowship with each other and take time to learn and understand the words we are singing so we can communicate the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who listen.
