Christmas Day is a day full of laughter and fun, spending time with family and enjoying wonderful food as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, for many people they do not have family to share this day with and often end up alone. At the Salvation Army Staple Hill, we want no-one to feel alone on this day and so each year we organise a day of food, friendship and lots of laughter.
Anyone who would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone is welcome to join us. The day begins with coffee and our informal Christmas day service. We then enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner cooked by our amazing cook Mary White, followed by entertainment in the afternoon including the infamous pass the parcel and watching the King at 3pm. More tea and mince pies are eaten before everyone goes home with a personal present, and a food hamper. The day is free of charge as we are supported by kind donations and also a number of willing volunteers, transport can be provided for those that need it.
Christmas day 2015 saw us host 60 people and it’s grown ever since!! Please contact us for more details.
